I was doing some browsing online and happened to have cause to visit the Shelby County, TN Register of Deeds website again. On the site, I noticed that they have a database of marriages that covers 1980-2005. But, the marriages are statewide – not just limited to Shelby County!
The site indicates this database is only partial, but I could not find specific details. So, I did some searching and found that there are at least 1000 marriages from Blount County and there may be more. I have a suspicion that 1,000 records may be their maximum retrieval number. Each record has a link to a form to request a copy of the certificate.
I added a link to the Marriages page on the county site, so check it out! Results may be hit or miss, but it’s worth a shot. I even found myself in there! (My husband and I were married in 2001 in Davidson County).
